BUBBLY WINE™ has a naturally compact and spherical habit and is attractive all season because of its unusual variegated leaves: burgundy with a yellow-green margin.
It blooms in late spring with dark pink flowers attractive to pollinators.
This Weigela is suitable for a mixed border but can also be used well as a low hedge.
Thrives well in both full sun and partial shade.
The plant was won by Jeff Good from Michigan (USA) and plant breeders’ rights protection has been applied for.
Valkplant B.V. of Hazerswoude and Spring Meadow Nursery Inc of Grand Haven (USA) are marketing the plant.
Valkplant B.V. has submitted it for novelty testing.
